Licensing Terms

Last Updated: August 20, 2026

These Licensing Terms govern the use of digital products, artwork, clipart, digital papers, surface patterns, printable files, journal pages, ephemera, graphics, templates, freebies, and other creative assets offered by Velvet Ink Atelier, operated by GB Publishing, LLC.

By purchasing, downloading, accessing, or using a Velvet Ink Atelier digital product or free resource, you agree to these Licensing Terms.

Unless a particular product or separate written agreement states otherwise, the terms below apply.

—

1. Your License

When you purchase or lawfully download a Velvet Ink Atelier product, you receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and non-sublicensable license to use the files according to these Licensing Terms.

You are purchasing permission to use the files.

You are not purchasing ownership of the artwork, designs, collections, branding, or underlying intellectual property.

The same designs or collections may be licensed to other customers.

—

 2. Personal Use

You may use Velvet Ink Atelier products for unlimited personal, non-commercial creative projects.

Permitted personal uses include:

  • junk journals;
  • handmade journals;
  • scrapbooking;
  • collage;
  • card making;
  • paper crafts;
  • tags;
  • labels;
  • pockets;
  • tuck spots;
  • personal stationery;
  • decorative projects;
  • printed crafts;
  • personal gifts; and
  • similar non-commercial creative projects.

You may print the files as needed for your own personal use.

You may not redistribute the original digital files, even when no money is exchanged.

—

3. Included Small Commercial License

Unless a product listing specifically states otherwise, purchased Velvet Ink Atelier products include a Small Commercial License for finished physical products.

This license allows the original purchaser to create and sell up to 500 total finished physical units using a single purchased Velvet Ink Atelier product or collection.

The 500-unit limit is cumulative.

For example, if artwork from one collection is used to create:

  • 200 journals;
  • 150 greeting cards; and
  • 150 sets of handmade tags,

the 500-unit commercial limit for that collection has been reached.

Personal projects that are not sold do not count toward this limit.

—

4. Permitted Small Commercial Products

You may incorporate Velvet Ink Atelier designs into finished physical products such as:

  • handmade junk journals;
  • handmade journals and notebooks;
  • greeting cards;
  • handmade stationery;
  • scrapbook projects;
  • journal inserts incorporated into finished handmade products;
  • tags;
  •  labels;
  • pockets;
  • tuck spots;
  • handmade ephemera;
  • invitations;
  • packaging accents;
  • physical paper crafts; and
  •  similar finished handmade or small-batch products.

The Velvet Ink Atelier design must be incorporated into a legitimate finished product rather than redistributed as a design resource.

—

5. Finished Physical Products

A finished physical product is a tangible item created for an end customer.

The finished product should provide additional creative, functional, or practical value beyond simply reproducing the original Velvet Ink Atelier design.

For example:

Permitted: Using Velvet Ink Atelier artwork throughout a handmade junk journal that you create and sell.

Not Permitted: Printing a Velvet Ink Atelier digital paper and selling stacks of the loose printed paper as a substitute for the original digital product.

Permitted: Incorporating clipart into a finished handmade greeting card.

Not Permitted: Printing individual clipart images onto sheets and selling them primarily as reusable design elements.

If the Velvet Ink Atelier artwork itself represents substantially all of the value of the product, additional licensing may be required.

—

6. Commercial Production Limit

The included Small Commercial License permits up to 500 finished commercial units per purchased product or collection.

If you wish to exceed 500 units, please contact Velvet Ink Atelier before producing additional products.

Depending on the intended use, you may require:

  • an Extended Commercial License;
  • a Print-on-Demand License;
  • a Manufacturing License; or
  • a separate Art Licensing Agreement.

Reaching the 500-unit limit does not automatically grant additional rights.

—

7. Professional Printers

You may provide files to a professional printer or production service solely for the purpose of producing otherwise permitted products on your behalf.

The printer or production company:

  • receives no independent license to the artwork;
  • may not add the files to its own design library;
  • may not sell or distribute the files;
  • may not provide the files to other customers; and
  • may use the files only to complete your authorized production order.

You remain responsible for ensuring that your production remains within the limits of your license.

—

8. Print-on-Demand

Print-on-demand use is not included in the standard Small Commercial License.

You may not upload Velvet Ink Atelier artwork, whether unchanged or minimally modified, to print-on-demand platforms for commercial sale without separate written permission or an appropriate additional license.

This includes products such as:

  • clothing;
  • mugs;
  • tumblers;
  • stickers;
  • fabric;
  • wallpaper;
  • wrapping paper;
  • bedding;
  • home décor;
  • wall art;
  • stationery;
  • accessories; and
  • similar merchandise.

Separate print-on-demand licensing may be available for appropriate uses.

—

9. Fabric, Wallpaper, and Commercial Manufacturing

The standard Small Commercial License does not include commercial manufacturing rights for products such as:

  • fabric by the yard;
  • wallpaper;
  • wrapping paper;
  • textiles;
  • upholstery;
  • bedding;
  • manufactured home décor;
  • mass-produced stationery;
  • commercial packaging lines; or
  • similar products where the artwork or pattern is a primary feature.

These uses require separate written permission through our Art Licensing & Partnerships program or another appropriate commercial licensing agreement.

—

10. Digital Products for Resale

The standard license does not permit Velvet Ink Atelier artwork to be used in digital products created for resale or redistribution.

Prohibited digital products include:

  • digital journal kits;
  • digital paper packs;
  • clipart bundles;
  • printable ephemera;
  • downloadable planner pages;
  • printable cards;
  • printable tags;
  • digital scrapbooking kits;
  • digital wall art;
  • digital invitations;
  • digital stickers;
  • Canva templates;
  • editable templates;
  • website templates;
  • design-resource bundles; and
  • similar downloadable products.

Adding text, borders, backgrounds, filters, recoloring, cropping, resizing, or making other minor changes does not create a new digital asset that you may resell.

—

11. Books and Publishing

Personal books and handmade journals are permitted under the applicable Personal or Small Commercial License.

Commercial publishing through services such as Amazon KDP or other print-on-demand or large-scale publishing platforms is not automatically included in the standard Small Commercial License.

Please contact Velvet Ink Atelier before commercially publishing:

  • book covers;
  • book interiors;
  • journals;
  • activity books;
  • coloring books;
  • planners; or
  • similar publications

using Velvet Ink Atelier artwork.

Additional publishing permission or licensing may be required.

—

12. Prohibited Uses

You may not:

  • resell the original digital files;
  • redistribute the files;
  • share the files with others;
  • give the files away;
  • sublicense the files;
  • upload the files to public or shared file-storage locations;
  • upload the files to stock-art or stock-asset marketplaces;
  • upload the files to digital-design marketplaces;
  • include the files in digital bundles;
  • include the files in memberships or subscriptions;
  • include the files in freebie libraries;
  • offer the files as downloadable design resources;
  • claim the artwork as your own original creation;
  • create substantially identical competing digital products;
  • convert the files into another format for resale;
  • trace, redraw, vectorize, recolor, or modify the artwork for resale as a design resource;
  • make the original artwork available for extraction by customers;
  • transfer your license to another person or business; or
  • use the artwork in a way that violates applicable law or the rights of another person.

—

13. Sharing Files

Your license belongs to the purchaser.

You may not share purchased files with:

  • friends;
  • family members;
  • employees;
  • other designers;
  • collaborators;
  • customers;
  • clients;
  •  online groups; or
    * other businesses

for their independent use.

Anyone who requires independent access to Velvet Ink Atelier files must obtain their own appropriate license.

The limited permission to provide files to a professional printer does not give that printer independent usage rights.

—

14. Client Work

You may not transfer original Velvet Ink Atelier digital files to a client.

Where otherwise permitted by these Licensing Terms, you may provide a client with the completed finished product you created.

The client may not receive, extract, reuse, redistribute, or independently use the original Velvet Ink Atelier files.

If the client requires access to the original artwork for independent use, the client must obtain their own appropriate license.

Large client projects, corporate projects, branding, manufacturing, publishing, or commercial campaigns may require additional licensing.

—

15. Logos and Trademarks

Velvet Ink Atelier artwork may not be used as the primary or exclusive element of:

  • a logo;
  • trademark;
  • service mark;
  • business identity;
  • brand identity; or
  • other identifying mark intended to establish exclusive rights.

Velvet Ink Atelier designs are generally licensed non-exclusively and may also be available to other customers.

You may not claim exclusive trademark or ownership rights over a Velvet Ink Atelier design.

—

16. Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning

Without separate written permission from Velvet Ink Atelier, Licensed Assets may not be used:

  • to train an artificial-intelligence model;
  • to fine-tune an AI model;
  • in an AI or machine-learning training dataset;
  • to create a commercial or non-commercial AI dataset;
  • to develop an image-generation system;
  • to develop systems intended to imitate Velvet Ink Atelier artwork or collections;
  • for automated style replication;
  • to create competing asset libraries through automated generation; or
  • for resale, redistribution, or licensing as AI-training material.

Purchasing or downloading Velvet Ink Atelier artwork does not grant AI-training, dataset-development, model-development, or machine-learning rights.

—

17. Free Downloads and Subscriber Freebies

Unless a particular freebie states otherwise, Velvet Ink Atelier freebies may be used for:

  • personal projects; and
  • finished Small Commercial physical products subject to these Licensing Terms.

Freebies may not be:

  • sold as digital files;
  • redistributed;
  • shared;
  • uploaded;
  • repackaged;
  • bundled;
  • sublicensed;
  • given away as downloadable files;
  • included in membership libraries; or
  • claimed as your own artwork.

If a particular freebie includes different or more restrictive licensing terms, those specific terms will apply.

—

18. Ownership and Intellectual Property

GB Publishing, LLC retains the rights and interests it possesses in Velvet Ink Atelier artwork, collections, product materials, branding, human-authored creative contributions, arrangements, modifications, and other protectable material.

Purchasing or downloading a Velvet Ink Atelier product does not transfer ownership to you.

Some Velvet Ink Atelier artwork may be created using generative artificial-intelligence technologies as part of a broader human-directed creative process.

These Licensing Terms do not represent that every individual element of every asset is independently eligible for copyright protection in every jurisdiction.

Regardless of the copyright status of an individual element, your access to the supplied Velvet Ink Atelier files is governed by the permissions and restrictions contained in these Licensing Terms to the extent permitted by applicable law.

—

19. AI-Assisted Creative Process

Generative artificial intelligence may be used as one tool within Velvet Ink Atelier’s creative process.

Depending on the project, that process may include:

  • concept development;
  • art direction;
  • prompting and iteration;
  • selection and curation;
  • editing;
  • compositing;
  • arrangement;
  • modification;
  • color development;
  • cleanup;
  • formatting;
  • layout; and
  • final production preparation.

Use of AI within the creative process does not grant purchasers permission to redistribute the supplied files, sublicense them, train AI systems using them, or otherwise exceed the rights granted under these Licensing Terms.

—

20. Credit

Credit to Velvet Ink Atelier is appreciated but is not required for permitted Personal or Small Commercial uses.

If you choose to provide credit, you may use:

Providing credit does not expand the rights granted under your license.

—

21. Extended Commercial Licensing

Please contact Velvet Ink Atelier before using our artwork for:

  • production exceeding 500 commercial units;
  • print-on-demand;
  • commercial fabric;
  • wallpaper;
  • large-scale manufacturing;
  • wholesale production;
  • commercial publishing requiring additional rights;
  • large corporate projects;
  • products distributed through national or international retailers;
  • significant client projects;
  • licensed merchandise;
  • digital products for resale;
  • television, film, gaming, or software;
  • multi-user or corporate use; or
  • another use not clearly permitted under these Licensing Terms.

Additional licenses may include separate fees, royalties, production limits, territories, durations, or other conditions.

—

22. Art Licensing & Partnerships

Manufacturers, publishers, retailers, brands, and other companies interested in broader commercial use of Velvet Ink Atelier artwork should visit our Art Licensing & Partnerships page.

Separate licensing opportunities may be available for:

  • fabric;
  • wallpaper;
  • stationery;
  • home décor;
  • giftware;
  • publishing;
  • packaging;
  • apparel;
  • textiles;
  • licensed merchandise; and
  • other appropriate commercial applications.

Purchasing a standard digital product does not grant these broader manufacturing or licensing rights.

A separately signed Art Licensing Agreement will govern any approved commercial licensing partnership.

—

23. License Violations

If you materially violate these Licensing Terms, your license to use the affected Velvet Ink Atelier files may terminate.

If your license is terminated because of a violation, you must stop:

  • producing new products using the affected artwork;
  • manufacturing new products using the affected artwork;
  • distributing unauthorized digital products;
  • sharing or redistributing the files; and
  • otherwise using the artwork in a manner that depends upon the terminated license.

Velvet Ink Atelier may request removal of unauthorized products, listings, downloads, or distributed files and may pursue other remedies available under applicable law.

—

24. Refunds and License Termination

Refunds and download issues are governed by our Returns & Refunds Policy and, where applicable, the policies of the marketplace through which you made your purchase.

If the purchase price for a digital product is refunded or reversed, the license associated with that purchase terminates unless applicable law requires otherwise.

After a license terminates following a refund, you may not create or manufacture new products using the refunded files.

—

25. Proof of License

Your purchase receipt, marketplace order record, or other valid proof of purchase serves as evidence that you obtained the applicable license.

Please keep your purchase records.

A license applies only to files that you legally purchased or otherwise obtained directly from Velvet Ink Atelier or an authorized marketplace.

Receiving a copy of a Velvet Ink Atelier file from another person does not grant you a license.

—

26. Changes to These Licensing Terms

We may update these Licensing Terms from time to time.

Unless otherwise required by law or expressly agreed in writing, the version of the Licensing Terms in effect when you purchase or lawfully download a product generally governs that transaction.

Later changes will ordinarily apply to future purchases and downloads rather than retroactively reducing rights previously granted under a valid license.

—

27. Other Policies and Agreements

These Licensing Terms govern ordinary use of Velvet Ink Atelier digital products and free resources.

They should be read together with our:

If you enter into a separately signed written licensing agreement with Velvet Ink Atelier, that agreement controls the specific rights covered by that agreement if its terms differ from these general Licensing Terms.

—

28. Governing Law

These Licensing Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory law in another applicable jurisdiction provides otherwise.

Nothing in these Licensing Terms is intended to waive a right or remedy that cannot legally be waived.

—
